Executive Assistants of Nine City Council Members Dedicate Time to Community Connections

JACKSONVILLE, Fl., April 1, 2008 – Nine of the Executive Council Assistants from the City of Jacksonville’s City Council Offices will participate in the Celebrity Readers Event at Community Connections Florence N. Davis Center Daycare program at 10:00 AM on April 2, 2008.

After touring the Davis Center Daycare several weeks ago, the Executive Council Assistants saw a need at Community Connections.  It is a way for them to fulfill a need for the Davis Center Daycare and interact with the children of the program. 

Participants include Sarah Balme from Daniel Davis’ office, Tiffany Clark from Denise Lee’s office, Daphne Colbert from Mia Jones’ office, Debbie Delgado from Art Shad’s Office, Mina Hosseini from Ronnie Fussell’s Office, Sandra Lane from Glorious Johnson’s Office, Angela Ryan from Clay Yarborough’s Office, Scott Wilson from Don Redman’s Office, Rupal Wells from Dr. Johnny Gaffney ‘s Office.

Sandra Lane of Council Member Glorious Johnson’s Office will make a special presentation using original creative materials designed to teach the children Spanish.

The Florence N. Davis Center Daycare center of Community Connections cares for homeless children from area shelters as their mothers struggle to re-gain their independence.  It offers child care to women that otherwise would be unable to afford it while they work to provide income for their families.

Community Connections of Jacksonville, a 501 (c) 3, provides housing for the homeless, child care, parenting classes, after school and summer camp programs, mentoring and GED prep classes among other services for women, children and families.
